The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Monday, September 21, 2026, will be observed as a statutory public holiday across Ghana to mark Founder’s Day.
In a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), the general public has been informed that Founder’s Day is a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
The declaration means public institutions and businesses covered by the statutory holiday arrangements are expected to observe the day as a public holiday.
The Ministry has therefore urged the general public to take note of the holiday and make the necessary arrangements accordingly.
Founder’s Day is observed annually in Ghana on September 21.
