Tensions soared in Kumasi’s bustling central business district on Thursday as military personnel were called in to restore order after hundreds of traders stormed the Adum Blue Light enclave, disregarding an area-wide restriction.
The traders, furious over the prohibition, breached a police barricade to resume their sales, intensifying the unrest and overwhelming initial law enforcement efforts.
In response, authorities swiftly mobilized the military to assist in managing the chaotic scene. Both police and military forces are currently stationed on-site, working to disperse the crowd and prevent further disruptions.
Eyewitnesses report that some traders confronted the soldiers, raising concerns over potential violent confrontations. Security remains tight as officials closely monitor the situation.
