A massive fire has engulfed a warehouse in Tema Community 26 reportedly used to store large quantities of alcohol in barrels, triggering a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The fire, which broke out on Sunday, July 12, 2026, sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky as intense flames tore through the facility.
Firefighters are currently battling to bring the blaze under control while working to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.
According to reports, four fire tenders from the Tema Industrial Area, Ashaiman, Tema Regional Headquarters and Dodowa Fire Stations have been deployed to contain the inferno.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ghana National Fire Service had not issued an official statement on the cause of the fire.
Authorities are also yet to confirm whether there have been any injuries or fatalities, while the full extent of the damage to the warehouse and its contents remains unknown.
Investigations are expected to begin once the fire has been completely extinguished to determine the cause of the incident and assess the extent of the losses.
