A man has died after drinking an entire bottle of an entire bottle of spirit in just two minutes.

In order to win a £10 wager at a South African liquor store, the man drank the entire bottle of a spirit in just two minutes before passing away.

The unnamed local went to the shop in the Limpopo village of Mashamba and participated in the competition to see who could consume a bottle of alcohol the quickest.

He finished the entire bottle of the 35% spirit before passing out.

The man, who was between the ages of 25 and 30, collapsed and was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed as dëäd.

The winning entry in the drinking contest received R200 in cash, which is about 100 cedis.

His death is now the subject of an inquest.

‘Police in Waterval outside Louis Trichardt have opened a case of inquest following an incident of apparent alcohol misuse that took place at one of the neighborhood bars at Mashumba Village where the customers allegedly took part in what they called a ‘drinking competition,” said Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, a spokesman for the Limpopo police.

“The winner would receive R200 cash if they could finish the entire bottle of Jägermeister in the allotted time.

One of them passed out right away and was rushed to the neighborhood clinic, where he was diagnosed as a dëäd.
