Police in Ashaiman have retrieved the body of a man who was allegedly beaten to death by a mob at Ashaiman Jericho Station following accusations that he stole roofing sheets and electrical cables.

According to reports, the deceased was attacked by some residents after he was accused of engaging in the alleged theft. His body was reportedly left at the scene overnight until police arrived at about 9:52 a.m. on Sunday morning to convey it for preservation and further investigations.

The incident has sparked concerns over mob justice, which continues to claim lives in several communities across the country.

Police say investigations are currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify persons involved in the alleged assault.

Authorities are also urging the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead hand over suspects to the police for due process.
