Mahama’s Job-Creation Agenda Tied to Galamsey Fight – Selorm Avedetsi

56 illegal miners arrested in Tarkwa-Nsuaem crackdown

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has linked its war on illegal mining to broader plans for job creation. NDC communicator for Ningo Prampram, Richard Selorm Avedetsi, explained that President Mahama, during his UN address, underscored the need to provide sustainable employment as a long-term strategy to draw the youth away from galamsey.

According to him, while measures such as seizing excavators and regulating ports remain critical, lasting success will depend on ensuring young people have alternative livelihoods. He emphasized that the NDC’s approach goes beyond immediate crackdowns, aiming for a sustained fight against both galamsey and corruption.

Mr. Avedetsi shared these insights on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B 104.5 FM.
