Lady Marilyn Abeka-Daniels, an adjunct lecturer at the University of Media, Arts and Communication’s Institute of Journalism (UNIMAC-IJ), has cautioned the public about self-centred individuals who frequently exhibit attention-seeking behaviour, often dressing ostentatiously to garner attention. Appearing on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, Lady Abeka-Daniels noted that this trait can be observed in children, who may intentionally seek attention, particularly during conversations between couples or family members.
She stressed the importance of early education and modelling to address this behaviour.
Furthermore, she highlighted the existence of “martyr” types, who seek empathy and sympathy by sharing their stories and become distressed when their expectations are not met.
According to Lady Abeka-Daniels, such individuals never recover. Additionally, she pointed out that when the spotlight is no longer on them, they perceive others as competitors.
The programme host, Nana Asabea, underscored the importance of being aware of these behaviours.
