Four women, yet to be identified, have been knocked down and killed on the spot by a Mercedes Benz truck with registration GT 7176 N, loaded with an unspecified quantities of cement bags at Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

The suspect driver, also yet to be apprehended by the Police, was said to have allegedly lost control of the truck due to brake failure on reaching a section of the road at Prince Boateng Memorial School in Nsawam.

The truck, which was heading to Nsawam from Accra, crashed into several vehicles ahead of it, knocking and instantly killing the four victims.

The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that efforts were being made by the Police to apprehend the suspect driver to assist in investigation.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the victims have been taken to the Nsawam Government Hospital morgue for identification, autopsy, and preservation.
