Jude Naab of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of attempting to tarnish the image of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, in the ongoing corruption case involving the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF).
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN show, hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Mr Naab questioned the handling of the case, arguing that investigations into alleged corruption should be thorough and supported by credible evidence to ensure justice is served.
Mr Naab said he had expected President John Dramani Mahama’s administration to take decisive steps to curb corruption in the country but expressed disappointment over what he described as actions that raise questions about the government’s approach. He alleged that the developments surrounding the case were intended to damage the reputation of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Dr Hamid.
He further questioned the allegations levelled against the former NPA boss, insisting that the OSP must conduct its investigations diligently and present sufficient evidence to support its charges. According to him, the credibility of the anti-corruption institution depends on its ability to establish its allegations before the court.
Mr Naab maintained that the allegations against the former NPA boss and other individuals must be established through credible evidence rather than speculation. He also argued that the NDC’s previous criticisms of corruption under the NPP government had not been justified by the developments, insisting that the matter should be handled fairly and transparently.
