Mallam Husain Acquah, Headteacher and Head of the Ahmadiyya Missions, has warned about the dangers of intimacy withholding in relationships, an often-overlooked behaviour with devastating consequences for couples.
In a recent interview with Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, he emphasized that intimacy withholding is a subtle yet destructive pattern that erodes trust, creates resentment, and ultimately destroys relationships.
“Intimacy withholding is a hidden form of relationship sabotage,” Mallam Acquah warned. “Couples must recognize the signs and address this issue promptly to build a healthy and fulfilling partnership,” he added.
On his part, Rev. Benjamin Oppong, Head Pastor of Mount Horeb Victorious Church, said it is essential to cultivate a positive attitude towards others’ relationships. He emphasized that admiring and aspiring to the good in people’s relationships is crucial, rather than envying and being jealous of them.
Rev. Oppong warned that envy and jealousy can lead to sabotaging and destroying relationships, which is akin to devilish behaviour. ”Whoever chooses to destroy relationships through sabotage is essentially acting like a devil,” he stressed.
”By supporting and celebrating others’ relationships, we can build a more positive community,” he added.
Furthermore, Mary Bright Coffie, an Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioner, highlighted that internal factors can often contribute to the sabotage of relationships.
She emphasized the need to be extremely careful and vigilant when dealing with individuals within the relationship, as they may be the catalyst for external factors that can cause harm.
