Selorm Avedetsi, an NDC communicator for the Ningo Prampram constituency, has expressed concern over the continuous debate surrounding the Anti-LGBTQ bill, questioning why the issue keeps resurfacing despite former President Akufo-Addo’s refusal to assent to it. Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem, he noted that recent comments by the Minority Leader in Parliament, suggesting that the opposition will force the government to pass the bill, seem sarcastic and raise suspicions about the real intentions of political leaders.
According to him, there appears to be more to the matter than what is being communicated to the public. Avedetsi believes that poverty and the lack of financial and economic opportunities are major factors contributing to the ongoing controversy, as international bodies continue to exert pressure on Ghana and make it difficult for the bill to be passed.
