The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has imposed a curfew on Hamile Township and its surrounding communities in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region, effective Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The curfew, which takes immediate effect, runs from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am and was imposed on the advice of the National Security Council through an Executive Instrument.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, the Ministry of the Interior urged chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth and residents of the area to exercise restraint amid the challenges confronting the community.

Government also called on residents to channel their grievances through peaceful and non-violent means to help restore calm in the area.

Meanwhile, a total ban has been placed on the possession and carrying of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons within Hamile Township and its environs.

The Ministry warned that anyone found in possession of arms or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.

The measures form part of efforts by the government to maintain peace and security in the affected communities.
