Five students of Central University have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) over their alleged involvement in the production and sale of cannabis and cannabis-infused products on campus.
The suspects, made up of Level 100, Level 300, and Level 400 students, were arrested during a targeted operation conducted by NACOC following intelligence reports of illicit drug-related activities within the university community.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the students were allegedly engaged in the production and distribution of various cannabis-infused products, including ice cream, sobolo, toffees, pepper, and eggs. Authorities also suspect them of dealing in raw cannabis.
During the operation, NACOC officers reportedly retrieved quantities of the suspected substances, which have since been seized and sent for forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations.

In a statement, NACOC reiterated its commitment to cracking down on drug-related offences in educational institutions and cautioned students against engaging in the trafficking, sale, or consumption of narcotic substances.
The Commission noted that the five suspects are assisting with investigations as efforts continue to determine the extent of the alleged operation and identify any other individuals who may be connected to the trade.
The students are expected to face prosecution if investigations establish sufficient evidence of their involvement in the alleged offences.
