Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioner Abrema May has urged individuals to guard their privacy, stressing that being cautious about the personal information they share can help protect them from manipulation and situations where they may be falsely accused or framed.
Speaking on Nyansapo Fie on Plan B FM, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Mrs. May advised that not every family issue, personal struggle, or life experience should be made public. She encouraged people to establish healthy boundaries and keep sensitive matters within trusted circles rather than exposing them to everyone.
Reflecting on changes in communication over the years, she noted that during the era of landline telephones, people were generally more discreet about their private lives. However, she observed that the widespread use of social media platforms such as Facebook Live and TikTok Live has led many people to openly share intimate details of their lives without fully considering the potential consequences.
According to Mrs. May, revealing one’s weaknesses, vulnerabilities, or personal challenges to the wrong people can create opportunities for manipulation and even false accusations. She therefore urged the public to be discerning about whom they trust and to avoid making every aspect of their personal lives accessible to others.
She concluded by encouraging listeners to exercise wisdom, maintain healthy personal boundaries, and prioritise their privacy, emphasising that safeguarding one’s personal life is an important step toward avoiding unnecessary emotional distress and situations that could leave them vulnerable to being unfairly framed.
