Illegal miners defy soldiers, return to Brim River

A Journalist and the Eastern Regional Correspondent of Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), Kofi Siaw has confirmed that illegal miners have deified the security personnel returned to the Brim River to engage in their activities. In the early hours of Tuesday, October 15, 2024, a Journalist and Documentary Film Maker, identified as Edem Srem Sai shared some drone photos from the Brim River at Anyinam sharing an update on the situation after deploying the military to the sites. According to Edem Srem Sai, the illegal miners in the community have gone back to mine in the waterbodies barely 48 hours after armed soldiers chased them away and burnt some Chanffans. During an interview with Kofi Siaw, an Eastern Regional Correspondent, he confirmed that the illegal miners have gone back to the Brim River to mine. “It is true. As I speak, you will find the miners mining in the full glare of the people, passersby can see them mining. I see these miners working seriously on the river. If you travel on the Kumasi highway, you will see them mining. Some residents have been wondering why the miners came back a few days after these military men came over.” He corroborated reports.
