leadership transition has taken place within the Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service following a formal handing-over ceremony held in Accra on April 7, 2026.

During the event at the National Police Training School, outgoing team leader DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil formally handed over command to Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, who now assumes the role of Commander. He will be supported by three senior officers to help steer the unit’s operations.

Addressing the team, DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil urged personnel to support the new leadership to ensure continuity and maintain the unit’s operational effectiveness. He highlighted that the team’s strength lies in collective discipline and commitment to duty.

In his acceptance speech, Superintendent Amoah pledged to lead with purpose and focus, promising to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor. He also called on officers to uphold unity, professionalism, and discipline while executing their mandate.

The leadership change is part of ongoing efforts by the Police Administration to strengthen specialized units and improve overall service delivery.
