Lawyer Timothy Donkor has argued that if judges are conscious of the fact that their work and excesses will be subjected to criticism, they will reduce their demigod posturing.
Mr Donkor is dissatisfied with the oppression and denigration lawyers suffer in the hands of judges and how the behaviour of some lawyers fuels and sustains this oppressive culture.
For him, the situation whereby lawyers take on their colleagues for daring to criticise judges and asking that disciplinary measures be meted out to them when judges can denigrate lawyers without any consequence is what sustains the unfortunate state of affairs.
“If judges know they can be criticized for their excesses, they will reduce the demi-god posturing,” Mr Donkor noted in a social media post.
His comments come in the wake of public commentary on some unsavoury and needless comments made by judges in their judgments, notably in the case involving Joana Quaye v. Richard Nii Armah Quaye.
