Health Ministry orders tightened security across Health Facilities after Mamprobi incident

The Ministry of Health has directed the immediate enforcement of enhanced security measures across all health facilities nationwide following the recent baby theft incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.

In a press release dated February 18, 2026, and signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Isaac Ofei Baah, the Ministry commended the swift and coordinated response of the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and other key stakeholders, particularly the whistleblower who assisted in addressing the situation.

The statement indicated that the Minister for Health has instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to ensure the strict implementation of day and night security protocols in all health facilities. Administrators have also been directed to urgently review and strengthen their internal security systems.

Additionally, the Minister reiterated an earlier government directive requiring all health facilities to install and maintain functional CCTV surveillance systems to enhance monitoring and safety.

The Ministry assured the public of government’s unwavering commitment to protecting patients and ensuring accountability within the health sector, while calling for calm as investigations into the incident continue.
