Muhammad Hussain Acquah, Headteacher of T.I. Ahmadiyya Basic School and National Preaching Secretary of Ansarullah, Ghana, has stated that grief is honoured in Islam.
Appearing on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, hosted by Nana Asabea, Acquah explained that grief serves as a reminder of the distinction between the Creator and creation.
According to Acquah, when Allah provides for our needs, we might become complacent and forgetful of His presence. However, grief can be a means to reconnect with Allah and acknowledge His sovereignty.
Prophet Isaac Asante, Head Pastor of Rema Prayer Ministry, offering a unique perspective on the role of grief in human life, said, “Grief is a natural part of human experience, and while it can be painful, it can also be transformative.
Grief can be a catalyst for growth and self-reflection. It is a chance to re-evaluate our priorities and seek a deeper connection with God.”
Prophet Asante also emphasised the importance of managing grief in a healthy way.
“When we do not process our grief, it can lead to brokenness in our relationships and even in our homes,” he said.
“Some men of God may turn to materialism or other coping mechanisms to mask their pain, but ultimately, we need to confront our grief head-on and seek God’s guidance.”
