Ghanaian Workers Struggle with Low Salaries, Debt – NDC Chairman Joe

NDC’s Treatment of Loyal Members Under Fire After Chairman Joe’s Shipment Seizure

In a candid interview on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm show, Joseph Awuku, NDC Communication Officer for Ashaiman Constituency, shared his insights on the challenges faced by Ghanaian workers.

Nkɔsoɔnsɛm show’s host Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi probed Awuku on the issue of low salaries and its impact on employees.

“The ordinary Ghanaian worker works exceedingly above their salaries and until there is a change in our attitudes, this could continually affect the Ghanaian employee,” Awuku said.

He emphasised the need for authorities to provide a friendly working environment to alleviate financial strain.

“The employee is always agitated, even when receiving their salaries, because they are forced to use the money to repay debts, leading to chaos as a result of the least provocation,” Awuku explained.

This sentiment highlights the emotional toll of financial stress on workers.

Awuku advocates for a well-paying salary structure to reduce corruption and promote employee well-being. “People are no longer patriotic due to the underpayment system they go through, and would have to find other means of income, which could be illicit and unlawful,” he warned.

The conversation serves as a reminder of the need for a comprehensive approach to address the challenges faced by Ghanaian workers. By exploring solutions, such as better pay and social safety nets, we can work towards creating a more sustainable work environment for all.
