Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has disclosed that the Government of Ghana has so far spent GH¢58 million to support the country’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The minister made the announcement while presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review in Parliament on Thursday.
According to Dr. Forson, the amount was paid to facilitate Ghana’s participation in the global football tournament.
“To support Ghana’s participation at the 2026 World Cup, an amount of GH¢58 million has been paid,” he told Parliament.
The disclosure forms part of the government’s update on public expenditure and fiscal performance for the first half of the 2026 financial year. Further details on the breakdown of the World Cup-related expenditure are expected to emerge during parliamentary deliberations on the mid-year budget review.
