The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, February 15, the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, described the development as disturbing and assured the public that steps are being taken to ascertain the full details of the incident.
According to the statement, the attack occurred in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso that has experienced security challenges in recent years. The truck was reportedly carrying tomato traders from Ghana at the time of the attack.
The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently liaising with Burkinabe authorities to visit the scene of the attack. The mission is expected to gather firsthand information and assist in identifying any Ghanaians who may have been affected.
Government says further updates will be communicated to the public as soon as more verified information becomes available.
The incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of the Sahel region, where terrorist activities have intensified in recent years.
