GES assures placement for all qualified BECE candidates into SHS and Technical Schools

GES assures placement for all qualified BECE candidates into SHS and Technical Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured the public that all qualified candidates who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.

In a statement issued on May 14, 2026, the GES said adequate preparations and arrangements have been made to receive all freshers when schools reopen on September 18, 2026.

The Service dismissed reports suggesting that about 72,000 students could miss out on placement, describing the claims as speculative and not reflective of the true situation. GES urged the public to disregard such reports.

According to the statement signed by Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, there is sufficient infrastructure and facilities available to accommodate all qualified students.

GES further assured stakeholders that ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system will not negatively affect access to secondary education. The Service noted that the move is aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining access for all students.

The Education Service reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on stakeholders to support the national objective.
