A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Anning, has raised concerns about Ghana’s education system, calling for improved teacher training, better preparation for the new curriculum, and a sustainable approach to the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme.
Speaking on EBAANOSEN on Plan B FM with host Ohene Kinnah, Mr. Anning stressed the need for continuous professional development for teachers to equip them with the skills required to meet the evolving demands of education.
He noted that teachers implementing the new curriculum must be adequately trained, particularly as it introduces new teaching methods, subject combinations and assessment approaches.
Mr. Anning also advocated the use of Ghanaian languages alongside English in classrooms, arguing that bilingual instruction could help students better understand subjects such as Mathematics and other complex topics.
