George Asabre, an NDC communicator for the Ashaiman Constituency, has expressed strong confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to recovering all state funds that were looted under previous administrations.
Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem, Mr. Asabre said the committee in charge of the recovery process is made up of competent and well-informed individuals who are determined to ensure that justice is served. He noted that during President Mahama’s recent engagement with the media, he mentioned several notable cases that are already set for trial — a clear indication that the NDC government is serious about accountability.
Mr. Asabre, however, raised concerns about the slow pace of Ghana’s judicial system, describing it as full of loopholes that frustrate the legal process. He lamented that cases which should take only one or two months to conclude often drag on unnecessarily, delaying justice and discouraging progress.
He therefore called on President Mahama to consider reviewing existing laws to speed up prosecution processes. “I believe President Mahama is a man of his word. He even stated that he has scheduled a meeting with the Chief Justice and the Attorney General to ensure that prosecution processes are fast-tracked,” Mr. Asabre added.
