The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has announced it has begun investigations into allegations of passenger mistreatment involving KLM Royal Dutch Airlines following viral videos of stranded travellers in Amsterdam.

The affected passengers were reportedly booked on Flight KL059, scheduled to operate from Amsterdam to Accra on Saturday, June 27, 2026, but experienced what has been described as a prolonged tarmac delay, sparking complaints over their treatment.

In a statement, the aviation regulator said it had taken note of the circulating videos and concerns raised by passengers, adding that it views the matter seriously in line with its mandate on safety, security, and consumer protection.

The Authority further disclosed that it has commenced engagement with all relevant stakeholders to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. It assured the public that findings of the investigation will be communicated in accordance with established regulatory procedures.

The GCAA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of service, safety, and passenger welfare within Ghana’s aviation sector.
