Some Ghanaians who have excelled in their various fields of national endeavour over the years are receiving national honours today, Monday, December 30.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is presenting the awards to them for their meritorious services, hard work, sacrifices and contribution to national development.
Among the award winners are some top officials of the Akufo-Addo administration.
Reacting to the award, Franklin Cudjoe, the Founding President and Chief Executive officer of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, slams President Nana Akufo Addo for honouring his appointees who were rejected by Ghanaians in the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Franklin Cudjoe was particular about Honourable Hawa Mavis Hawa Koomson, who was also awarded by Nana Akufo Addo. According to him, Honourable Hawa Koomson should not be awarded due to her gun-wielding incident
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson has admitted to firing shots at a voter registration centre in her constituency on Monday (July 20, 2020) “to protect herself”.
Ms Koomson who doubles as the Minister of Special Development Initiatives in a television interview on Adom TV on Monday evening said she fired “warning shots” because “there were no police around”.
To Franklin Cudjoe, Honourable Hawa Koomson does not deserve to be given such an honour due to her gun-wielding incident.
“The ultimate skullduggery! Having been trounced at the polls to reject everything you and the gang stand for, you give us the middle finger with these classless awards! Well known gun wielding thugs too? Well, it is ultimate certificate to be inducted into the Political Hall of Infamy! Happy riddance!” He posted on Facebook.
