FIFA has imposed a registration ban on Ghana Premier League side Karela United FC over outstanding financial obligations to former player Sana Camara.
The decision is contained in a letter dated August 17, 2026, issued through the FIFA Legal Portal and addressed to Karela United.
According to FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee, Karela United has failed to comply with an earlier decision requiring the club to settle its financial obligations to Camara.
As a result, FIFA has implemented a ban preventing the club from registering new players at both international and national levels.
The ban will remain in force until the outstanding amount owed to Sana Camara is fully paid. FIFA has, however, stated that the restriction can remain active for a maximum of three entire and consecutive registration periods.
FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, Américo Espallargas, also instructed the Ghana Football Association to immediately enforce the ban at the national level if it had not already been implemented.
The sanction comes as Karela United prepares for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season and could affect the club’s ability to strengthen its squad through new signings.
The club will therefore have to resolve its financial dispute with Sana Camara to have the registration restriction lifted.
The FIFA communication was copied to Sana Camara and the Ghana Football Association. A report on the decision has also been published by ModernGhana.
