The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has temporarily closed a number of food service establishments on Oxford Street in Osu following a food safety inspection exercise conducted on Wednesday.
According to the FDA, the affected businesses were found to be operating without the mandatory Food Hygiene Permit, prompting the enforcement action.
The Authority stated that the establishments will remain closed until they obtain the required Food Hygiene Permit Certificate and comply with the necessary regulatory requirements.
The FDA has also reminded all food businesses across the country to regularize their operations by securing the mandatory Food Hygiene Permit, warning that failure to do so could result in closures, fines, and other enforcement measures.
The inspection forms part of the FDA’s ongoing efforts to ensure food safety standards are maintained and to protect public health.
