Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been named Leicester City’s Young Player of the Season at the club’s end of season awards.

Issahaku scooped the award ahead of contenders like Zambia’s Patson Daka to crown a very impressive debut season with The Foxes in the Sky Bet English Championship.

For the 2023-2024 season, the 20 year old, who is on loan from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon has scored six goals and added 13 assists in 39 games. He has also created 32 big chances; the most in the English Championship this season with a game left to conclude the campaign.

Dressed in a traditional Ghanaian outfit, the former Steadfast FC player picked up the award as reports continue to churn over his possible stay at Leicester City after his loan deal expires.

A €17 million deal is reportedly in the works to sign him on a permanent deal from Sporting. Issahaku’s marked contributions for Leicester City to clinch the Championship title and secure an automatic promotion to the English Premier League.
