The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has requested nine years of financial and operational records from Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, a law firm whose senior partner is Manhyia North Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The request forms part of ongoing investigations into suspected offences, including criminal conspiracy, causing financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences.
In a letter dated October 30, 2026, EOCO invoked Section 19 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), to compel the law firm to provide documents and information to assist its investigations.
Among the documents requested are the firm’s audited financial statements covering 2017 to 2025, as well as evidence of tax payments made to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The tax records are expected to cover corporate tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), applicable levies and withholding tax.
EOCO has also requested details of all bank accounts operated by the firm, together with corresponding bank statements covering the nine-year period.
Additionally, the Office wants copies of the firm’s operating permit issued by the relevant local assembly, evidence of its renewal and a list of employees working at the firm, if any.
The law firm has been directed to submit all requested documents and information to EOCO by November 6, 2026.
The request is part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations into the suspected financial and related offences. However, the request for records does not, in itself, establish wrongdoing by the law firm or its senior partner.
