Eden Hazard faces yet another spell on the sidelines after the Real Madrid winger suffered a thigh injured that will rule him out for three weeks.
The Belgian, who cost Real an initial £88million when they signed him from Chelsea in 2019, has managed to play just six matches this season amid injury issues and a positive coronavirus test.
His latest setback came in Real’s 2-1 home defeat to Alaves on Saturday night when he left the action after just 28 minutes.
An ultrasound test on Sunday proved inconclusive so Hazard was sent for an MRI scan on Monday. This confirmed a problem with the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg.
‘Following tests carried out today on our player, Eden Hazard, by Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with an injury in the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg,’ a club statement said.
‘His recovery will continue to be assessed.’
