ECG Disconnects Power To Tema Oil Refinery Over GHS27million Debt

News reaching MyNewsGhana.Net indicates that a task force from the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG) has disconnected power to The Tema Oil Refinery over the refinery’s refusal to settle power debt accrued to a total of GHS27million.

This is not the first time the Electricity Company of Ghana has taken such action against TOR. Previous disconnections led to a shutdown of operations at the Tema Oil Refinery leading to adverse effects on productivity.

In August 2021, The Electricity Company of Ghana cut power to some 16 Companies In Tema Over GHS27.8M Debt.

The companies were Eastern Quarry, 605,827.26, Nelplast Ghana Limited, Bigleb Company, Special Steel Ltd, Wahome Steel Ltd, Western Steel/Forgings,Movell Comp. Ltd, Sekyere Kwaku Badu, Yeeco Plastie and J D Preservation.

The rest are International Pack Ghana, Ds Plastic Ltd, Inter Pack, Bio-Plastic Co Ltd , Heavens Ice Company Ltd and Zin Jin Industry

The Electricity Company of Ghana tells MyNewsGhana.Net that, these actions form part of efforts by the company to retrieve all overdue debts before the close of the year 2021.
