E/R: Truck burst tyre; veer off road killing three persons in Suhum

An accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway near Star Oil in Suhum has left three people dead, including an Okada rider, and one person critically injured.

The incident occurred on Monday, June 10, around 2:30 PM.

A long vehicle truck, registered GT6359-24 and traveling from Accra to Kumasi, suffered a tire burst, causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.

The truck veered off the road, running over an Okada rider who was killed instantly.

The vehicle then collided with a sprinter bus, registered GC 7652-20, resulting in injuries to three passengers.

Two of the injured passengers succumbed to their injuries on Tuesday.

The lifeless bodies of the Okada rider and the two other victims have been transported to the Suhum Government Hospital mortuary, where the injured individuals are also receiving treatment.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
