a potentially catastrophic incident occured on the Bunso-Koforidua highway near the Sokode Juaso junction causing injuries to many passengees.

A towering Mahogany tree crashed down onto a moving Toyota vehicle with registration number GW 1941-20, which was transporting 12 passengers.

The incident, occurring around 3:30 am, was attributed to a sudden burst of wind and rainfall that persisted for approximately two hours.

Fortunately, all occupants of the vehicle escaped fatal injuries, although several sustained varying degrees of harm.

Responding swiftly to the emergency, teams from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the local Police worked diligently to clear the roadway, ensuring the safety of passing commuters.

In the aftermath of this harrowing event, concerns have been raised regarding the integrity of other large trees lining the highway. With the onset of the rainy season, authorities are urged to take proactive measures to address potential hazards and avert future tragedies.

The Abuakwa North Municipal NADMO Secretariat has issued a stern advisory to all motorists traversing the Bunso-Koforidua highway, emphasizing the need for heightened caution and awareness particularly when it is raining.
