Lawyer and the Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh Amoaning has cautioned activists and promoters of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex (LGBTQI) not to allow themselves to be subjugated by colonialism to accept homosexuality in Ghana.
His comments comes at a time when there is raging debate on the subject of LGBTQI+ activities in the country, and the tolerance of the country’s laws to persons in the LGBT community.
Eight members of parliament are proposing a draft legislation to criminalize LGBTQI+ practice and advocacy in the country under the name ‘The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021.’
Speaking on Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ with Ohene Addo, Mr. Foh Amoaning said that homosexuality in Ghana is a new form of neocolonialism and should be rejected by all.
“Why is the west insisting we must embrace homosexuality at all cost? If they claim indeed they love Africans and want theirs implemented and have sponsored the same but rejecting ours. I am advising those who have gone to take money from them to promote the activities of LGBTQI not to be agents of colonialists. Queer activities, what is human right about this” He quizzed
“Why have they criminalized polygamy which is legal here, and they want us to legalize same sex marriage because is against human right and we will be blacklisted. Why do you think that is happening, they have no respect for us” he said
“Is it not a new form of neocolonialism or Cultural Imperialism? What wrong have we done to you? We are not stupid” he quizzed angrily
According to him, he is passionate about the current happenings in the country because the same west took over 20 million Africans into slavery years ago before they struggled and attained independence.
“This time, there is a new breed of Africans. We are sharp, we are smart, we are intelligent and clever than them. For the first time as Africa’s, we will find a solution to a problem that they cannot tackle. ” He indicated.
He further called on leaders and politicians to rise up and kick against the queer activities that is creeping into the country.
“Those who want to lead this country from NPP and NDC should come together and help us fight this canker. I can assure you parliament is going to pass the law. Any parliamentarian who would oppose this bill will be booted out; trust me” he added
