Matthew Kitcher of the Base Movement has called for greater discipline among government appointees, ministers and chief executive officers under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN, hosted by Ohene Kennah, Mr. Kitcher said individuals appointed to public office must demonstrate discipline, accountability and a strong sense of responsibility in the management of state resources.
He also criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what he described as propaganda surrounding Ghana’s financial and economic situation and the government’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to him, claims made by the NPP should be measured against the findings and assessments contained in the IMF’s reports rather than political rhetoric.
Mr. Kitcher further argued that political parties often oppose policies introduced by their opponents, even when such initiatives have the potential to benefit the country.
He therefore called for a shift away from partisan politics and propaganda, urging political actors to prioritise policies and decisions that contribute to Ghana’s development.
The Base Movement member stressed that discipline, accountability and responsible leadership must remain central to governance, adding that public officials must recognise the responsibility that comes with occupying positions of authority.
