Mary Bright Abelenma Coffie, an Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioner, a fashion designer and a youth counsellor, has called on leaders to delegate to avoid self-centeredness in all aspects of life, describing it as crucial in leadership, as self-centredness can ruin society.
In an interview with host Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, Coffie expressed her admiration for leaders who delegate tasks effectively, recognising that no one person can do everything alone and that the future is uncertain.
She shared her insights on effective leadership, highlighting that leaders who delegate tasks effectively demonstrate a deep understanding of teamwork and shared responsibility.
Coffie’s sentiments were echoed by Rev. Samuel Manful, Global Ark of Grace Chapel’s Head Pastor, who highlighted that self-centredness can often stem from insecurity.
He emphasised the need for leaders to recognise and utilise the strengths of their team members, giving individuals opportunities to contribute their skills and talents.
By doing so, leaders can promote a more inclusive and collaborative environment, where everyone feels valued and empowered to make a meaningful contribution.
By embracing delegation and recognising individual strengths, leaders can foster a sense of belonging, encourage collaboration, and develop a more inclusive community. Effective delegation and recognition of strengths can help leaders avoid the pitfalls of self-centredness, promoting a more harmonious and effective team.
When leaders prioritise delegation and empowerment, they can unlock the full potential of their team, drive collective success, and build a stronger, more resilient organisation.
