Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) has revealed it plans to join hands in the celebration of world heart day, which is stipulated to come off tomorrow, September 29, 2020.
Managing Director CPC, Nana Agyenim Boateng I made this revelation during an interview on PLAN B FM, morning show dubbed Nkosuo Nsem.
Mr. Agyenim disclosed that the motive behind his outfit supporting the world heart day celebration is to educate the general public on the nutritional benefits of foods produced from cocoa beans in fighting health diseases.
“Joining force with health authorities to mark the world heart day celebration is not an avenue to market our products but rather an avenue to create awareness to the general public on several Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) which is a term for conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels”, He said.
Making reference to the number of deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and diabetes, Nana Agyenim Boateng I stressed on the need for the general public to consume more cocoa products to boost their immune system against such diseases, adding that cocoa in the past was so much appreciated that only a few high profile persons consumed it; a situation which made an emperor in Mexico refer to it as ‘The food for the Gods’.
The event which will host health professionals, staff of Cocoa processing company and other prominent people, is aimed at educating members of the public on the importance of keeping a healthy heart. In line with celebrating the day, CPC will commission a sales outlet at Kasoa. The sales outlet according to the CPC MD will serve customers of the company who may be coming from the Kasoa area and its environs.
The World Heart Day is celebrated globally on September 29. This year’s theme is “Use Heart to Beat Cardiovascular Disease”.
World Heart Day is a global campaign during which individuals, families, communities, and governments around the world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others. Through this campaign, the World Heart Federation unites people from all countries and backgrounds in the fight against cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden and inspires and drives international action to encourage heart-healthy living across the world.
