Concerns raised over EC’s collation and transmission of election results

Election 2024: EC denies printing Ballot Papers

NDC Tema Central Communications Officer, Hon. Tony, has raised concerns about the transparency of Ghana’s electoral process, particularly the collation and transmission of election results from the regional level to the national level.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkosuonsem, hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, Hon. Tony expressed concern about discussions surrounding electoral matters and reactions to political developments on social media.

He cautioned against drawing conclusions without carefully examining the facts, noting the need for a clear understanding of issues relating to Ghana’s electoral process.

Reflecting on the country’s electoral history, he referenced the 1992 elections and questioned how presidential election results are collated from various locations and transmitted through the regions to the national level.

According to him, understanding how results from individual electoral areas are aggregated and communicated nationally is crucial to ensuring that the figures can be properly accessed and verified.

Hon. Tony’s comments point to the need for greater public understanding of the Electoral Commission’s procedures, particularly the processes involved in collating and declaring presidential election results.

His concerns come amid ongoing public discussions about electoral transparency and the importance of strengthening confidence in Ghana’s democratic processes.
