John Ato Breboh, also known as Uncle Ato, Deputy Chief Investigator at the Tema Sub-Regional Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has cautioned that the lack of sufficient office equipment can create an environment conducive to betrayal.
In an interview with hostess Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle programme, “Nyansapɔ Fie”, Uncle Ato highlighted the current challenges faced by CHRAJ, particularly with regards to office equipment. He noted that the commission often lacks the necessary machinery, forcing staff to take documents outside for printing and scanning.
According to Uncle Ato, this situation can lead to a breach of confidentiality and potentially compromise the integrity of cases brought before the commission. “When we have to take documents outside for printing and scanning, it creates an opportunity for unauthorised individuals to access sensitive information,” he explained.
Uncle Ato emphasised that this vulnerability can erode trust in the commission and undermine its ability to effectively investigate and address human rights complaints. He therefore urged the relevant authorities to provide CHRAJ with the necessary resources and equipment to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of its work.“`
