Cedi’s Rise is NPP’s Doing – NPP’s Communicator

Cedi Gains: NPP Communication Team Member Queries Govt’s Dollar Investment Plan

James William Edem Tamakloe, NPP spokesperson for Tema West, has attributed the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi to the party’s economic policies and management.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm show with Odiamono Kwaku Gyimah, Tamakloe emphasised that the NPP’s commitment to building gold reserves, which were handed over to the NDC government after the 2024 election, laid the foundation for the cedi’s stability.

Using an analogy, Tamakloe likened the situation to a relay race, where the NPP handed the baton of gold reserves to the NDC, which has then continued to manage it prudently. “We handed over enough gold reserves to the NDC, and together with their prudent economic management, it has yielded the cedi’s appreciation,” he noted.

However, Tamakloe raised a pertinent question about the sustainability of the cedi’s appreciation, particularly when the government begins to spend on launched projects and campaign promises. “The multimillion-dollar question is what happens after the government begins to spend on the numerous launched projects, likely to be seen in January 2026, as they are yet to roll out on their campaign promises?” he quizzed.

The cedi’s rise is seen as a positive development for Ghana’s economy, and the NPP is keen to highlight its role in achieving this milestone. The party’s economic policies have been designed to promote stability, growth, and development, and the appreciation of the cedi is seen as a testament to the effectiveness of these policies.
