Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has defended his side’s defensive approach in Ghana’s goalless draw against England, insisting his tactical plan worked exactly as intended.

Speaking after the match, Queiroz revealed that Ghana deliberately set out to frustrate the Three Lions from the opening whistle through to the end of the first half.

“We put in place a strategic plan to block and frustrate them from the first minute until the end of the first half, and we executed it well. The team was completely frustrated and had no solutions,” he said.

The Portuguese tactician praised his players for their discipline and commitment to the game plan, highlighting their defensive organization against one of the tournament favourites.

Ghana’s resolute performance earned the Black Stars a valuable point, keeping their hopes of progressing from Group L alive ahead of their decisive final group match against Croatia.
