The campaign office of former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko has warned the public against individuals allegedly using his name to defraud people with fake job opportunities at the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and other institutions.
In a public notice issued on September 21, 2026, the campaign office said it had received reports of an individual using several phone numbers to pose as a representative of Mr. Agyarko and offer employment opportunities.
According to the notice, victims are allegedly asked to provide the names and contact details of two people before being charged between GH¢5,000 and GH¢10,000.
The campaign office said that after receiving payment, the individual allegedly cuts off all communication with the victims.
It identified 050 527 5761 and 059 316 8730 as two numbers linked to the alleged scam, while cautioning that other numbers could also be in use.
The campaign office stressed that Mr. Agyarko is not conducting or facilitating recruitment at COCOBOD or any other institution and has not authorised anyone to collect money or personal information on his behalf for jobs, appointments or any other purpose.
It has therefore advised members of the public not to send money or share their personal information, or that of others, with anyone claiming to represent Mr. Agyarko in connection with employment opportunities.
Potential victims have also been urged to preserve messages, call logs and payment records and report suspected cases to the Ghana Police Service as well as their mobile network or mobile money provider.
The campaign office further advised the public to verify any communication purportedly from Mr. Agyarko through his official channels, including WhatsApp on 050 784 2159 and his verified campaign social media platforms.
The office has appealed to the public to share the warning widely to help prevent others from falling victim to the alleged recruitment scam.
