Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team has begun the defence of their African Schools Football Championship (ASFC) title in emphatic fashion, thrashing Guinea 6-0 in their opening Group B match on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Zimbabwe.
The Black Damsels wasted no time asserting their dominance, racing into an early lead through Belinda Kpentey in the sixth minute. Just two minutes later, Jennifer Awuku doubled the advantage as Ghana took full control of the contest.
Mavis Koah then added her name to the scoresheet with a brilliant brace, striking in the 19th and 30th minutes to stretch Ghana’s lead.
Margaret Tawiah made it five with a goal in the 22nd minute before Janet Eyram sealed the commanding victory with the team’s sixth goal in the 35th minute. The result gave Ghana a perfect start in Group B as they look to retain the continental title.
Ghana followed up that dominant performance with another victory in their second group match against Tanzania, edging the East Africans 2-1. Christiana Ashiaku was the standout performer in that encounter, scoring both goals to secure Ghana’s second win of the tournament.
The impressive start continues the remarkable journey of the team, which made history in 2025 by winning the African Schools Football Championship title on April 26, 2025, when they defeated Uganda 2-0 in the final at the University of Ghana Stadium to lift the trophy.
