The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has firmly denied reports suggesting it is considering the sale of its newly commissioned headquarters, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a press release issued on June 2, 2026, the central bank responded to a publication by MyJoyOnline dated June 1, 2026, titled “Bank of Ghana considering sale of new $260m headquarters – sources.”
According to the BoG, there are no discussions, plans, or considerations underway regarding the sale of the facility. The Bank stressed that the headquarters remains a critical asset that was commissioned to support its operations and improve efficiency in carrying out its statutory mandate.
“The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters,” the statement emphasized.
The central bank further urged the public and media organizations to disregard the publication, warning that unverified reports of such nature could undermine public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary market uncertainty.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the Bank noted that all official communications are issued through its website, verified social media platforms, statements from the Communications Department, or signed releases from the Secretary of the Bank.
The BoG also encouraged media houses to seek clarification from the institution before publishing reports relating to its operations.
The statement was issued by the Communications Department of the Bank of Ghana.
