FC AshantiGold 04 and Asante Kotoko settled for a 1-1 draw in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 8 clash at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.
Samuel Fosu Boateng fired the hosts ahead in the 41st minute with a stunning long-range strike to give AshantiGold the lead heading into the break.
Asante Kotoko responded after the restart, with Patrick Asiedu drawing the Porcupine Warriors level in the 65th minute through a powerful free-kick that beat the AshantiGold goalkeeper.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither side could find the decisive goal as the points were shared in the Ashanti derby.
The result gives AshantiGold a point at home following their 1-0 defeat to Aduana FC in Matchday 7. The Miners had previously secured a 1-0 home victory over FC Samartex 1996, with Raphael Ankamah converting a penalty.
Kotoko, meanwhile, were unable to build on their 2-1 victory over Young Apostles in their previous league outing, where second-half goals from Hubert Gyau and Solomon Nsoh Asaah secured the win.
The draw leaves both sides with a point as the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season gathers momentum.
AshantiGold will next travel to face Swedru All Blacks in Matchday 9, while Kotoko will seek to return to winning ways as they continue their campaign.
