A group calling itself the Concerned Citizens of Ashaiman has given the government a two-months ultimatum to fix the deplorable nature of roads within the Ashaiman town or face their wrath.
The protest scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, was sparked by several unsuccessful attempts to get the roads fixed by the relevant authorities.
Speaking on Plan B FMs late afternoon show EBAANOSEN, hosted by Ohene Kinnah, the Member of Parliament for the Ashaiman constituency in the Greater Accra Region Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey who joined the protest lamented the dire impact of the situation on economic activities in the Municipality.
He stated that indicated that they have been promised by authorities so many times and can no longer hold on to those promises.
“22 kilometers of road construction was awarded in 2016 during NDC’s regime but the NPP government diverted it to Tema”, the NDC MP alleged.
“I used my own pocket money to fill pot holes at Tema Newtown junction in 2020 but , people were sent by the Assembly to stop me and it nearly turned into a fight so i have to call the police commander to bring some police men to calm issues down”
