Legendary Black Stars forward, Asamoah Gyan, has been officially outdoored as the ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and colts football.

The former Ghana international is expected to use his iconic status to help in the development of the game across all levels.

Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, was unveiled as a ceremony held at the Pelican Hotel in Accra on Wednesday evening.

The occasion was graced by several top dignitaries, including former Black Stars teammates and the president of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku.

As part of his ambassadorial role, Gyan is expected to lead promotional activities, fan engagements and campaigns aimed at rallying support for the Black Stars ahead of the tournament in North America.

He will also represent the GFA at official functions and support the promotion of Ghana’s national teams and youth football development.

During the presentation, an emotional Gyan watched a short documentary of his goals with the national team, as the spectators cheer the ex-Sunderland player on.

The former striker, who scored 51 goals for the Black Stars, represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups and famously scored the country’s first-ever World Cup goal against Czech Republic in 2006.
