Armed robbers shot and injured a police officer at the Ablekuma Star Oil filling station during an alleged operation in the Greater Accra Region.

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 22, 2023, and it cannot be ascertained if the officer is dead or alive as he was transported by some eyewitnesses at the scene to the hospital.

Per eyewitness reports, the police, who seemed to be accompanying a pickup with bankers, were trailed by four robbers in a black car who carried out the attack after the bullion van made a stop at the Ablekuma Star Oil filling station.

Reports indicate that approximately 15 gunshots were exchanged between the robbers and the on-duty police officers at the fuel station.

The robbery was also carried out at a time when the CCTV cameras at the fuel station were off for maintenance.

Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup vehicle cannot be found anywhere near the crime scene, according to a report.

According to a 3News.com report, there is currently a heavy security presence at the scene.

The police have also launched an investigation and a search for the perpetrators of the crime.
